A Buddhist View Of Christmas Giving

As a Buddhist who celebrates Christmas, it is not the modern attachment to material things that makes it worth celebrating but the reminder to be good to one another.

During my three years as a (RL) wandering ascetic bhikkhu (Buddhist monk) in Thailand, I learned that desire NOT to be given gifts was itself an attachment, and that allowing the giver to feel they were doing good was itself an act of kindness.
